Display Screen Equipment

Under the Display Screen Regulations, we have a duty to ensure that users receive appropriate information and training on the hazards and use of work equipment, and ensure that the equipment and environment we provide is suitable for purpose.

Working with Display Screen Equipment (DSE) is an activity that is carried out by the majority of employees. The health risks associated with working with DSE are:

  • Working Upper Limb Disorders (WULDs)
  • Repetitive Strain Injuries
  • Eye Strain
  • Fatigue / Stress

Users should complete the e-learning DSE package, and receive a 1-2-1 with a trained DSE assessor within a month of starting work.

This training is available from the Safety Media eLearning System. Users will need to be set up with a unique username and password to access the Safety Media site. To do this please contact your area administrator. If you don't know who your area administrator is, please contact the Health and Safety Service using the details on the left of the page.

This website provides additional information on the use of display screens and what you can do to reduce the risk of adverse health effects.
