SPUD - Space, Placemaking and Urban Design
SPUD is a new group in Southampton for young people interested in architecture and the built environment.
If you are aged between 14 and 19 years old and in full-time education you can apply to take part. If you interested in Architecture, Design and the Built Environment then SPUD is ideal for you as it will help you gain new skills and hands on experience as well as build a portfolio of work.
As a member of the SPUD team you will get to work with a professional architect, work on a LIVE design brief, share your ideas with the local authority officers and help to shape and influence future design decisions.
You will also become part of a network of other SPUD youth groups being set up in this region and have the chance to share your ideas with them through the SPUD webpages.
Every member of the SPUD team will build a portfolio of design work and have the chance to complete the Silver Arts Award too.
The group will meet once a month for 2 hours after school, starting in February. There will also be an opportunity to attend some additional workshops with Planning Aid. All the workshops will run at a professional architects' practice in Southampton from 5pm until 7pm.
To take part in the SPUD group please complete the application forms and talk with your teacher and parents too.
