Wishes - Sure Steps in Learning

What is Wishes?
Wishes is a learning project delivered close to where you live, in Sure Start Centres or wherever you feel comfortable.

Through the Wishes project, you can create an individual learning plan for your learning journey. It’s your chance to open new doors and take up opportunities.

In more cases the learning is free and childcare provided too. Sometimes we may be able to help with transport as well.

Passport to success
The Wishes project supports parents of young children who want to improve their basic skills and employment opportunities, particularly those parents who would like to gain Level 2 qualification. Parents who want to join, will have a least one child under the age of five.

Once you’ve been accepted onto Wishes, you’ll have an in-depth interview. This helps you to identify your learning, training and support needs. Following this, you’ll be offered a plan tailored to your specific needs and be on your way to successfully completing your qualification.

Ongoing support throughout the journey
The help doesn't stop there; as part of Wishes you’ll also be assigned a dedicated mentor. Your mentor will be on hand to offer help in developing your CV, give you access to information about job opportunities, help you to prepare for interviews and also give you information on in-work benefits.

You’ll also receive a regular newsletter and may also choose to help out fellow parents on the programme, through mutual support and group events.
